Food and Spirituality

Angels Dining at my Table by Evi Gstottner

Spirituality is usually taken to mean belief in a metaphysical existence, which transcends our ordinary, everyday lives. This often takes the form of adherence to an organised religion, in which food and dietary practices play an important role.

However, any activity which renews, comforts and inspires both ourselves and those around us can been seen as having a spiritual dimension. Meals shared with family and friends are a powerful symbol of love and togetherness. They also help communication to flow between family members.

This section is devoted to the symbolism of food and its power to nurture the spirit as well as the body.
